No further assessment of this visa application can be taken at this office. However, if the details of a parent, spouse, de facto partner, child, brother or sister you intended to visit were included in your visa application form, and the relative is an Australian Citizen or Australian permanent resident, that person is entitled to apply for a review of this decision to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT)). An application for review of this decision must be given to the AAT within 70 calendar days after you are taken to have received this letter.
If this letter was sent to you by email or by fax, you are taken to have received it at the end of the day it was transmitted.
Please note that this review period is prescribed in law and an application for merits review may not be accepted after that date.
Lodging an Application for Review
Applications for review can be lodged online, in person, faxed or posted to any registry of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT).
If you are in immigration detention, you may also lodge your application by giving the completed application form and any applicable fee to a departmental officer at a detention centre or at an office occupied by an officer of the department at an airport. This must be done at least one working day before the expiry of the period in which the application for review must be given to the AAT.
